Challenge

In Papaaloa, a place that was once a hub of the sugar cane industry, Gary Beuschel built a new off-grid home fully powered by solar and energy storage capacity large enough to never need a back-up generator. But no man is an island, especially when an inverter goes down and cuts off electricity to the house and a Tesla electric vehicle, Beuschel’s only means of transportation at the property.

Solution

Knowing that inverter downtime in off-grid systems is common, RES develops a long-term service program for all our off-grid systems, including the Beuschel residence. Our technicians catalog the most common failure modes and keep spare parts in stock to minimize downtime while customers wait for service to be restored. When Beuschel notified RES about a service disruption, we were ready.

Result

RES has 20 years of experience working with the type of inverters at the Beuschel residence, so we had no trouble resolving the error and getting the system working again the same day we received a service request. To date, he’s been able to confidently power his home and charge his Tesla vehicle knowing RES has his back.
