Example: Waimea hale
A residence in Waimea was running on a nearly 20 year old Xantrex inverter, a 2,400 watt solar array and dying L16 flooded lead acid batteries. Mold covered the solar panels resulting in low solar production that prevented the batteries from receiving a proper charge. The system was insufficient to power the home resulting in heavy generator usage and high fuel costs.
RES replaced the Xantrex inverter with a brand new Outback FLEXpower ONE 3.6 kW inverter, replaced the batteries with 4 maintenance-free SimpliPhi Lithium Ferrous Phosphate batteries, added 1,440 watts of additional solar panels, and cleaned the existing solar array. RES matched the specifications of the old solar panels, so another charge controller would not be needed, reducing cost. The system now requires no maintenance and is sufficient to power the house with minimal generator run.
I am thrilled with the system RES provided me. Initially, I was going to replace batteries and add a secure cabinet. For the same amount of money, Roland worked out provision of a new system altogether, adding PV panels to my existing ones. The extra panels make all the difference in the world, and in combination with the no maintenance batteries I have a much superior system. More importantly, because my old system was 18 years old and reasonably expected to be nearing the end of its useful life, I have the security of transition. I have the security of a brand new operating system with greatly increased power generation through maximizing the life of my old panels. Did I mention that all this cost less than the original solar installation 18 years ago?
